What this is
USDT to UPI means paying an Indian merchant (or anyone with a UPI ID) using your Tether — without first selling it on an exchange. You don't have to wait for a P2P trader to accept your order, deal with bank account locks, or worry about withdrawal queues. Rupto debits your USDT internally, then Cashfree (an RBI-authorised PA-PG) settles INR over UPI to the recipient.
For you it feels exactly like a normal UPI payment — open the scanner, point at the QR, enter an amount, confirm. The merchant sees a standard UPI credit; they don't need a crypto wallet or even know that USDT was involved.
How USDT to UPI works on Rupto
- Create a Rupto account at rupto.in with your email (Google sign-in also works).
- Send USDT from any wallet (Binance, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, hardware wallet) to your unique Rupto deposit address on Ethereum or BNB Chain. It shows up in your dashboard within minutes.
- Tap Pay, scan the merchant's UPI QR or paste their VPA, enter the amount in rupees.
- Confirm. We lock the USDT/INR rate, debit your wallet, and Cashfree pays the merchant. You get a UTR receipt.
Networks and limits
- Ethereum (ERC-20): standard USDT contract
0xdAC1…1ec7. Higher gas fees on deposit (paid by the sender). - BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20): Binance-Peg USDT
0x55d3…7955. Negligible gas — the recommended chain for most users. - Per-payment limits: set in admin settings. Defaults: minimum ₹1, maximum per scan-pay ₹20,00,000.
Fees and rate
Rupto's pricing is intentionally boring: 0.8% flat on top of the live USDT/INR rate fetched from CoinGecko every 60 seconds. The rate you see on screen is the rate you get — we don't widen the spread for revenue.
Compared with the typical P2P exchange off-ramp (~7.6% in spread plus a withdrawal fee), a ₹50,000 payment saves you roughly ₹3,400 in transaction cost on Rupto.

How do I pay UPI with USDT?
Sign up on rupto.in, deposit USDT from any wallet to your Rupto address on Ethereum or BNB Chain. Open the Pay screen, scan any UPI QR code, enter the amount in rupees, and confirm. Your USDT is debited at the live USDT/INR rate plus a flat 0.8% fee; the merchant receives INR via UPI through our Cashfree integration in a few minutes.
Which UPI apps does this work with?
Every UPI rail — Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay, BHIM, Cred, Amazon Pay, the printed sticker at your local kirana shop. As long as a merchant can accept UPI, Rupto can pay them with your USDT. The merchant only ever sees a normal UPI inflow; they don't need a crypto wallet.
Which USDT networks are supported?
Right now, ERC-20 (Ethereum) and BEP-20 (BNB Smart Chain). BEP-20 is the most popular choice because the on-chain gas to deposit is near-zero. TRC-20 and Solana addresses are visible in your wallet for future support but aren't watched yet — please use ERC-20 or BEP-20 for now.
What is the USDT to UPI fee?
A flat 0.8% on top of the live USDT/INR rate from CoinGecko. No hidden spread, no withdrawal fee, no monthly subscription. A ₹1,000 payment debits roughly 12.05 USDT at ₹83/USDT — the merchant receives the full ₹1,000 and you pay the 0.8% on top.
How long does the merchant wait for the INR?
Median settlement is in the low minutes. The platform receives your USDT in DB the moment you confirm; Cashfree initiates the UPI payout immediately and the merchant's bank typically credits within 30 seconds to 5 minutes. You can refresh the transaction screen to watch the status flip from "verifying" to "completed".
How does Rupto handle compliance?
INR settlement is routed through licensed Indian payment partners — the same UPI rails that any merchant uses. Every payment generates a UPI UTR you can verify on your bank statement. KYC is collected at signup. Income tax on your gains remains your responsibility — India's 30% VDA tax + 1% TDS framework applies.
